What we walked into
A hangar slab laid in bays, with saw cut control joints running the width of the building and cracking through several of the panels. Sheet metal walls, a full width hangar door at one end, and nothing in the space to break up three thousand square feet of floor.
What we did
Ground the whole slab, treated the joints and repaired the cracking, then poured a deep blue metallic across the entire floor in continuous passes. Walls masked to height with paper because a metallic pour throws material further than a roller does.
What made it difficult
Size. Metallic has to be poured and worked wet, and a wet edge that is allowed to set before the next pass meets it will show as a line across the floor forever. Three thousand square feet in one continuous pour is a logistics problem as much as a flooring one, and it is why this took eight days rather than four.
The result
A single unbroken blue floor across the full hangar, with the roof lights reading down its length. No joint lines visible in the finish, which on a slab this size is the whole test.
