Epoxy Floor – Coffee Shop, El Segundo
Eight hundred square feet of coffee shop in El Segundo, starting with breaking out what was there.
| Location | El Segundo, CA |
|---|---|
| Surface area | 800 sqft |
| Building | Commercial Retail |
| Working area | Customer floor and service area |
| Duration | 4 Working Days |
| Scope | Demolition, Crack Repair and Solid Colour Epoxy |
What we walked into
A unit mid strip out, with old built in units still in place and rubble on the floor. Once that came up the slab underneath turned out to be cracked across most of its area, in a pattern that suggested it had moved rather than just shrunk.
What we did
Broke out the remaining floor build up, chased and filled the cracking, then ground the slab flat. A mid grey solid colour went down over the top in a high gloss finish.
What made it difficult
Not knowing what was under the old floor until it was off. Demolition is the part of a job you cannot quote accurately, because the cracking only appears once you have taken the covering up, and by then the programme is already running.
The result
A flat, sealed grey floor in a room that was rubble four days earlier. Gloss rather than matte, which suits a small retail space with limited daylight.
