Clear Epoxy Floor – Office Building, Downtown Los Angeles
A thousand square feet of Downtown office coated clear in three days, with the glass partitions already standing.
| Location | Downtown Los Angeles, CA |
|---|---|
| Surface area | 1,000 sqft |
| Building | Commercial Office |
| Working area | Open floor and glazed offices |
| Duration | 3 Working Days |
| Scope | Grind, Repair and Clear Epoxy |
What we walked into
Frameless glass offices already built on the slab, with the concrete around and underneath them still bare and carrying adhesive residue from a previous floor. Concrete columns through the space and the base build finished everywhere except the floor.
What we did
Ground the slab back to a clean, even surface, filled what needed filling, and coated clear so the concrete itself is the finish. The warm sandy tone in the floor is the slab, not a pigment.
What made it difficult
The glass. You cannot lift a frameless glass partition to get a machine under it, so the floor inside each glazed office was ground with hand equipment and the coating cut in by hand along every glass foot. Three days is fast for that, and it only worked because the slab was in good condition.
The result
A clear coated concrete floor running continuously under and around the glass, so the partitions read as if they were set down on a finished floor rather than built before it.
