What we walked into
A grey slab with patchy discolouration through it, in a unit that was already fitted with benching, wall-mounted equipment and services around the perimeter.
What we did
Ground and polished the slab in place, cutting in by hand around the equipment bases, benching legs and the glazed partition where a machine could not reach.
What made it difficult
Fitted-out spaces are slower than empty ones. Every fixed obstacle is an edge that has to be worked separately from the open floor, and the hand-cut edges then have to be brought to the same finish as the machine passes or the difference shows around the perimeter.
The result
An even polished floor through the open span and up to every edge, reflecting the ceiling line cleanly right into the corners.
