What we walked into

A new build at framing stage – timber studs open on every side, plywood underfoot at the edges, and a fresh slab through the middle of it.

What we did

Brought a large planetary grinder in and polished the slab in long runs while the space was still completely clear. A framed house with no walls closed in is the easiest floor there is to work.

What made it difficult

A fresh slab has to be ready before it can be polished. Go too early and the concrete has not gained enough strength to take the cut cleanly, so the timing matters more than the technique on a new build.

The result

A bright, highly reflective floor across the whole first floor, finished before a single wall was closed in.
