What we walked into
Carpet and tile coming up across the whole office area, with the tack strips still fixed along the wall lines and black adhesive left behind in streaks and pools across the slab.
What we did
Pulled the remaining covering and ground the adhesive off before touching the slab itself, then polished the concrete underneath. Machines ran on dust extraction throughout because the offices, doors and glazing were already in.
What made it difficult
Adhesive is the awkward part. It loads up the tooling and comes off at different rates depending on how thick it was laid, so the first passes are slow and have to be checked constantly rather than run at a steady rate.
The result
A clean, even floor through the whole office area with the control joints reading as straight lines and no trace of the adhesive left in the surface.
