What we walked into
A house mid-renovation with the walls open to the studs and insulation, the sliding doors in, and the slab bare and unfinished underneath.
What we did
Polished the slab while the house was still open, which is the right stage for it – the floor gets done before the finishes go on, so the walls are not at risk from the machines.
What made it difficult
Working ahead of the finishes means protecting your own work afterwards. The floor is finished before the trades that follow, so it has to be covered and looked after until the house is done.
The result
A warm-toned reflective floor across the whole first floor, in place and protected before the wall finishes went on.
