What we walked into

A sound slab with a saw cut control joint through the middle of it and a metal drainage channel set into the threshold at the garage door. Clean walls, nothing stored in the room, a straightforward space to work in.

What we did

Ground the slab and taped out the walls, laid a tinted base coat, then broadcast flake to refusal in a pale grey and white mix. Scraped back, sealed, and the coating coved up the wall base.

What made it difficult

The threshold channel. A drainage channel at the door is a hard edge that a coating has to finish against cleanly, and it is the first thing anyone sees when the garage door goes up. Masking it and cutting the coating in to a straight line along its length is slow work for a small area.

The result

A light floor that makes the garage feel like part of the house rather than a store room, finished tight to the drainage channel at the door.
