What we walked into
A 750 square foot living room in Santa Monica opening onto the garden through full height glass. The slab underneath was sound but mottled and dark in patches from whatever had been down over it.
What the client needed
A finished concrete floor in a living space, done in two days with the family around it.
What we did
We ground the slab back and sealed it rather than taking it to a full polish. Grind and seal is the right call in a room this size when the client wants the concrete to read as concrete, and it is a fraction of the time a full polish takes.
What made it difficult
Once was a carpet covered flooring, the “snake” glue intended to stain the concrete floor but with the matte finish it was hide down the sealer.
The result
A sealed grey floor that takes the garden light straight through the room. Two days, and a living space back in use the same week.
