What we walked into
A newer slab in reasonable condition, with a raised concrete plinth in one corner and a washer and dryer standing against the back wall. Cleaner than most garages we coat, which meant the two days could go on the work rather than on the preparation.
What we did
Ground the slab, made good the edges around the plinth, then a full flake broadcast in grey, black and white. The coating runs up the wall base as a cove and returns around the plinth so there is no raw edge anywhere at floor level.
What made it difficult
The appliances. A washer and dryer cannot be disconnected and put on the driveway for two days in a house people are living in, so the floor was laid in sections and the machines walked across as each part cured.
The result
A flake floor that reads as a finished room rather than a garage, which is the point when the laundry is in there. Coved base, no gap at the wall, and a surface that will not show what gets dropped on it.
