What we walked into
A 370 square foot single family garage in Sherman Oaks, bare slab, with the usual staining a garage floor collects where the car sits.
What the client needed
A garage floor that survives hot tyres, which is where the kits from the hardware store give out first.
What we did
We ground the slab open rather than etching it, which is the difference between a coating that bonds into the concrete and one that sits on top waiting to peel at the tyre tracks. Coated and left to cure fully before anything went back in.
What made it difficult
Because of the previous oil stain we had to apply 2 coats of the epoxy moistue vapor barrier, finishing it with one coat of clear polyurethane glossy.
The result
An epoxy garage floor that cleans with a mop and does not lift where the tyres land. Three days start to finish.
