What we walked into
Five thousand square feet of office floor in West Hollywood that had been covered for years. Once the coverings came up the slab underneath was uneven enough that grinding alone would not have brought it flat, with height differences between bays where the building had settled and old adhesive across most of the area.
What the client needed
With an existing tenant staying in the building while we worked the job needs to follow a tight schedule while other trades were involved as well.
What we did
We tented the work area and ran grinders with dust extraction to take the adhesive and the high spots off. From there the partial floor got a self-levelling overlay, poured and gauge-raked, which is what gets a settled slab back to flat. Once it cured we ground and sealed it.
What made it difficult
Working around other trades makes the flooring job always tricky and sometime we have to choose to work in a different shift.
The result
A flat, sealed grey floor across the whole office. No new material over the top, no coating waiting to peel, and the height differences between bays gone.
