What we walked into

A slab carrying paint spatter, staining and the marks of a previous fit out, with the kennel panels and gates already installed along the walls. Blue painted walls, and a room that was going to be full of animals as soon as we were out of it.

What we did

Ground the slab back across the full two thousand square feet, repaired what needed it, and coated in a light grey solid colour with anti-slip through it. Coved at the base so the daily wash down has nowhere to push water into.

What made it difficult

The gates. Kennel panels are bolted to the slab at intervals along both walls, so the floor is a series of bays rather than an open room, and every fixing is an edge to cut in around. Seven days on two thousand square feet is slow, and the gates are why.

The result

A continuous sealed floor through the runs and the circulation between them, with anti-slip that works when it is wet, which in this building is most of the time.
