Epoxy Garage Floor – Redondo Beach
Jevan Araujo, owner, IT’S SO CLEAN CSLB #1071609
A new build garage in Redondo Beach where the slab had cracked before anyone had parked on it.
| Location | Redondo Beach, CA |
|---|---|
| Surface area | 400 sqft |
| Building | Residential Garage |
| Working area | Garage floor and coved base |
| Duration | 2 Working Days |
| Scope | Crack Repair and Solid Colour Epoxy, Anti-Slip |
What we walked into
Cracking across most of the floor. Not hairline either, a network of it running corner to corner with the control joints doing less than they were meant to. The building was still being finished around it, hoses and cable across the slab, nothing else in the room.
What we did
Chased out and filled the cracks, ground the slab, then a solid colour topcoat in a warm off white with anti-slip through it. Coved at the base so the floor and the wall meet in a curve.
What made it difficult
Cracks in a new slab usually mean it is still moving. Filling them and coating over the top on day two is a decision, because if the slab keeps working the repair will show through eventually. We filled them properly rather than skimming them, which is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that reappears.
The result
A pale, high gloss floor that makes a small garage feel bigger and shows a car off rather than hiding it. The anti-slip is in the coating, so it is there when the floor is wet.
