What we walked into
A 380 square foot garage in Los Angeles with a sound slab and no covering, just bare concrete that had never been finished.
What the client needed
A garage floor with no coating on it at all, finished from the slab itself.
What we did
We ground and densified the concrete rather than coating it. On a garage that means nothing to peel, nothing to recoat, and a surface that hardens rather than wears. Three days including cure time between sealers.
What made it difficult
Polishing a garage instead of coating it is the less common choice, and it usually comes up when the garage is not really a garage any more. Once it is an office or a playroom, people want a floor that reads like the rest of the house rather than a workshop.
The result
A polished garage floor with no coating on it. Three days, and a surface that will not need doing again.
